Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-09-03

This privacy policy applies to the Chemies app for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS ("the App"), published by Tommy Wong ("we", "us").

Short version

Chemies doesn't collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There's no account, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. Your settings stay on your device.

Information we collect

None. Chemies works entirely offline and doesn't send any data to us or to any third party. We have no servers, no analytics SDKs, and no advertising SDKs in the App.

What's stored on your device

The App saves a small set of preferences locally on your device — such as your chosen curriculum and display language — using Apple's standard on-device settings storage. This information never leaves your device, isn't linked to your identity, and is deleted automatically if you uninstall the App.

Camera and local network permissions

The App's system permission list includes camera and local network access, reserved for equation-scanning and nearby-multiplayer features that are still in development and not enabled in the current version. The App does not currently request or use either permission, so no camera images or local network data are captured, transmitted, or stored. This policy will be updated before either feature ships.

Children's privacy

Chemies is built for chemistry students and is safe for users of any age, including children — because no personal data is collected from anyone who uses the App, there's nothing to safeguard beyond what already applies to every user.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, when the scanning or multiplayer features above are enabled — we'll update this page and revise the effective date. Material changes affecting new data collection will be described here before that feature ships.
